Dear Charlene, this is a very sad day for me. I just googled George' s name in an effort to renew contact with you my friends, only to know that George had passed on to heaven. I know he is in heaven because of the person he was and the life he lived. I had the pleasure to work with him at John Hancock. We became friends and of course I got to know you.In all the years I lost contact with you all, George was always on my mind.He was a gentleman in all respects. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. May God grant you the courage to bear this loss and the wisdom to guide your children in their father's values.

There are no words of comfort I can offer to ease the profound pain of George's death. The Curry family and my family have a long and loving connection which will always remain. There is an old Irish saying, "life isn't measured by the years that we live, but by the good deeds with do and the love that we give." George shared his love freely and deeply with those that knew him. We are forever touched by his brief yet profound life. Sending love and healing prayers to the Curry family.

As the weeks go by it becomes more and more apparent just how deeply George's passing has affected his family. He was so very, very special to each one as son, brother, husband and father. Each role forfilled perfectly without apparent effort but with joy and humor. When he is spoken of it is with extreme loss and appreciation for those who expressed their love in a myriad of ways. This world has lost a great soul and we will learn and weep from his great example. I'm praying for you Linda, Leslie, Scott, Char, Ethan, Shannon and wish I could be with you. Love and more love, Aunt Debbie

It says a lot about a man who is loved and respected by everyone he meets. I am lucky to have known George and will miss him very much. Linda,Leslie,Scott,Char,Ethan,Shannon. You all are in my prayers.
October 8, 2011
My first meeting and recollections of George was when he was ten years old and his aunt Debbie and I had moved to Guilford from Reno, Nevada. Here was this young lad whose love for his family was so evident and for his grandmother and grandfather, Carlo, (not by blood but by love) who swooned his magic that fascinated young George and all of us. His aunt Debbie and I moved back to Nevada and soon to California and although we did not see much of each other we returned for his wedding to his beautiful wife, Char. We just knew that his marriage as his mother's and father's had been would be a lifetime love. We returned to Conn. two years ago to Scott and Elsie's wedding and stayed at George and Char's house for this event and were awed by the love this family showed toward one another. His wonderful mother had kept us up on how the family was doing all these years so we were not surprised at the good life they had made for themselves. It was with deep sorrow we learned of George's passing and the fact that we would not be able to attend the funeral because of an operation I had very recently went through and a serious family problem that came up at the same time. It is with deep sorrow we mourn his passing and we pray for him and family.

My fond memories of George go back to 1972, when we met in sixth grade math and discovered we shared a passion for baseball and all sports in general. “Chuck” was a classmate all the way through UConn, where those around him continued to benefit from his generosity and tremendous sense of humor. While our adults paths crossed only incidentally, it was refreshing to bump into him around town and find that he was still as friendly and outgoing as ever. His passing comes far too early, and beyond the obvious sense of loss leaves us with a somber reminder of our own mortality. My condolences go out to all who will miss him. Chuck Curry was one of the good guys.

Curry family,
I remember first meeting George in middle school. His quiet self-confidence and kindness made befriending him easy. Throughout the tumultuousness of middle school, he treated everyone with respect and earned our respect in turn.
In high school, he grew to be a natural leader who often brought diverse groups together. George could be as goofy and fun-loving as the next person, but it was his sharp intellect and keen ability to size up and react to a situation that kept him at the top of our class.
After high school, I only saw George at our reunions where it was obvious that he had not changed. If anything, he was even more a stand-up guy in whom many people put their well-placed trust.
George will be missed. I'm sure that the best of him has rubbed off on his children.
I'll keep your family in my prayers.

Charlene, Shannon and Ethan,
Though we never met, I feel I know you so well. I met George over 15 years ago and the moment I met him, I knew I could trust him with my finances. However, I did not know how close of a friend he would become to me. We shared many business lunches together and the discussions always turned to our families, which had many things in common. George was the most caring, honest, loving family man there could be. He was so proud of his family and loved you so much. Please know that he will be fondly remembered by so many and during his short life he inspired all of us. My prayers will always be with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I admired George so much over the last few years. He began our friendship years ago after a game, somewhere, by introducing himself as Ethan's dad. So many of us from the class of GHS '79 are heartbroken by the sudden passing of our fearless leader. George's contribution was legendary; he was the life and soul of our class. Although I saw him only a few times after high school at class reunions, I was happy to see that George had retained his easygoing and generous spirit throughout the years; he had a kind word for everyone. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family for their unimaginable loss.

Dear Linda, Leslie and Scott,
Although I haven't seen George in many years I can definitely say that I cherish the memories I have of him when my sister Kim and I would visit Connecticut every summer. He was always jovial and always the kidder, and although I was a young kid at the time he always made me feel welcome and made me laugh. Playing baseball and pitching batting practice at the lot in front of your house at Lake Quannipaug was the best. He even gave me my first ever golf club, a 3 iron which he said he wasn't hitting very well and wanted to get rid of. I still have the club called "The Boss" to this day. Back then he had such a youthful spirit which I would imagine stuck with him throughout his years.
My prayers go out to you all.

To the family and friends of Mr. Curry,
My heart goes out to you...
George and I were most friendly during middle school years.
George brings smiles to my face and I admit even now, tears to my eyes. What carefree yet confusing days those were! What a good buddy George was, following sports, playing football on front yards(tackle without pads!), and mostly staying out of the trouble. When we entered High School, George moved ahead in ways I could not fully understand, positive ways. He took full advantage of a goofy nickname, and as I hear it, he has taken advantage of many so called negative things in life, turning them to positive. I am reliving scenes now that were quite hilarious for those times! At George's expense it seems, we would all have a laugh, but really, he was laughing loudest of all and laughing for us all.
I cannot imagine the loss of those who have stayed in contact with this man throughout the years, and especially the loss for his immediate family.
The George I knew so many, many years ago, during those innocent childhood days, has entered in as a child I am sure. And after shedding a tear for those behind, I can hear him laughing with no worries, because it is all out of his hands!
Hopefully my childhood love for George has been expressed in ways not too presumptuous, and most certainly in ways not too offensive.
May God comfort as only God can,
Thank you for this far away forum,

For more than twenty years we have had the privilege to know George through his work as financial planner to the Foothills VNA, here in the northwest corner of our state. As the years went by, our quarterly sessions focused less and less on money matters and more and more on an exchange of family updates among friends. George loved his profession and more importantly, he loved his family and he loved people. He was honest, trustworthy, highly competent and caring. We will miss his smile ans easy going manner, but know that we are better for having met him. His approach to life will continue to be a role model for those of us fortunate enough to have known him. He was special. Our prayers are with you at this very sad time.

To George's Mom ,Wife and Children, I do not know you but I really do . George spoke of you so often with much love and caring. No matter where he went you went with him. He was a wonderful person, so caring and trustworthy. Such Integrity!! Always a Smile. I knew I was in good hands from the moment he came into my home. That was a few months after my husband died. George was a guiding force in my life since 2000. I could trust Gerge. I just knew it in my heart. Any person who loved his family as much as George did was a comfort to be around. George never let anyone down. He always was there for us when we needed him. He was a Godly man and I know in my heart that he too is in good hands right now. In the hands of a Loving God. I last saw George at Pop Miconi's memorial. He & Char both took the time to come & sit with me & said so many wonderful & comforting things that will always be remembered & treasured.
Though we don't gather often enough, many fun family parties were shared together in 10 years you've known me. George welcomed me with open arms the
first time he met me.
We all expected to share many, many more years with George. While we are so stunned & sad he's not here... I KNOW why God called George now. His strong & loving energy is badly needed to help cleanse & heal this Earth of all the negative things that
are happening here now & the month/yrs. to come. Though he is learning to BE without his shell, he lives in our hearts & souls.
Dear Ones: I love you all so much; Each of you are heavy on my mind & heart - sending comforting & peaceful light to you. Let us lean on each other as we grieve, cry, heal, laugh, toast & share George stories.

"When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure."
I am so saddened to hear of George's passing. We were class officers together at GHS and he was always a positive, "Can-do, let's do" type of person. He gave us all many wonderful memories for our days at GHS...
Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.
