George Brown Obituary

George Allen Brown, age 81, of Winchester, Virginia, died, Saturday, April 16, 2005, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Brown was born on April 22, 1923, in Whitehall, Virginia, the son of the late Albert and Carrie Allen Brown. He was a route salesman for Castle Biggs Distributors (L & G Potato Chips), retiring in 1989. He was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Brown was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army as a Private.

Mr. Brown married Eitha Mae Mauck on April 18, 1942, in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Douglas A. Brown of Winchester, VA; two daughters, Phyllis Ann Bennett and Shirley M. Dyke of Winchester, VA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One sister, Shirley Mae Brown and four brothers, Ralph Brown, LeRoy Brown, Paul Brown, and Charles Brown have preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Reverend Roger Powell officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Brown, Kelly Bennett, Greg Dyke, Bobby Gordon, Ronnie Gordon, Rusty Knupp, Steve Lineweaver, Terry Belford, and Mike Foreman.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.
