Gary Mumford Obituary

Mumford, Gary J. age 58, at rest Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Blue Island, IL and a resident of Joliet, the past 24 years. Formerly employed by Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, retiring in 1997. A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. A dedicated member Jehovah's Witnesses. He was an avid fan of auto racing, the Cubs and loved fishing. Survived by his father, James Mumford Sr., of Joliet, three sisters, Donna Stroup of Schererville, IN, Susan McRoy-Papernik of Beecher, IL, and Cheryl K. Mumford of Dyer, IN, two brothers, James Mumford Jr., of Homewood and Jeffrey Mumford of Chicago, dear uncle of Greg Papernik, Shauna (Joe) MacIntosh, Scott Stroup, Marchell (John) Butler and Tony (Vianne) Stroup, loving great-uncle to many. Preceded by his wife, Gloria V. Mumford (1986), his mother, Marchell Mumford-Barry, his stepfather, Ed Barry and brother-in-law, LeRoy Papernik. Funeral services for Gary J. Mumford will be Thursday, July 13, 2006, at 10 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, 2 to 9 p.m. For information: 815-741-5500
