Gary Miller Obituary

Age 65, formerly of Penn Yan, passed away in Tampa, FL on April 10, 2010.
The family will receive guests from 10 to 11 AM at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Liberty and Chapel Streets in the village of Penn Yan on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. A Resurrection of Life Memorial Service will immediately follow with Rev. K. Wayne Butler celebrating.
Gary was born July 6, 1944 to the late Christian F. and Marion E. (McClure) Miller in Buffalo, NY. Raised and educated locally, Gary graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1962 and went on to attend the State University of New York Maritime College in Fort Schuyler. As a teenager, he took pride and found pleasure in working at a local marina on Keuka Lake. He eventually found his niche in the auto industry and a 45 year career which started in Rochester and continued in the Finger Lakes, during which he was co-owner of Miller Hahn Volkswagen in Auburn and Lake Country Ford Mercury in Penn Yan. He relocated to Tampa, FL in 1984.
Gary is survived by his children, Laura L. Miller (Gregory Michaels) and Benjamin C. Miller (Janice); as well as his beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Caelan Miller and Elizabeth Grace Michaels. Also surviving are his three sisters; Kathleen Guilfoose (Mark), Mary Nealon (James), and Cynthia Miller, and his brother, John Miller. He also leaves behind many dear friends and co-workers. He always held close to him the memory of his loving wife, Carolyn Almand, and his precious grandson, Christian Lucas Michaels, who passed before him.
As opposed to floral offerrings, please consider making contributions in Gary's memory to the National Wildlife Federation (www.nwf.org, 1.800.822.9919, Mon- Fri, 8am to 8pm), 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190.
