Garrett McLaughlin Obituary

Dear Denny and Dede, It has been so long but we have such happy memories of you and your darling children. We wish you well in this very sad time.

Knowing and hanging out with Garrett was one of the highlights of my high school years. His wit and humor added to every gathering and his thoughts about the world made for many a late night conversation.

My thoughts and prayers are with Garrett and his family.

I have vivid memories of my 'little' cousin Garrett...a back yard in Portland with pet ducks and sunshine and a tender hearted boy who helped me feel welcome...When I woke in this new place there would be his sleepy smiling face at the end of my bed....I trust there is a warm and gentle soul to do the same for you at the end of your journey and you feel welcome...God speed

My heart goes out to Dede and Dennis as well as the rest of the family. I'm thinking of you and your loss and hope you can enjoy all the good memories you have.

It's been many years since our paths crossed, but I'll never forget Garrett's wit, his smile, his sparkle. My thoughts and prayers to his loving family and friends.

I count myself fortunate to have shared time here on earth knowing and learning with such a bright, witty, and talented soul such as you, Garrett, however brief (from Grade school through high school). I am better for it and I wish you peace and fulfillment now. -My condolences to your family as well. Save some good, Heavenly pencils for me, Garrett, and maybe we'll draw up some masterpieces when I get there. If I can't, I know you will surely be able to.

For several years Garrett made our lives richer in Boston. He was devastingly smart and funny and you would have to say, beautiful. All our sympathy goes to his loving clan.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family Garrett. Brings back the memories of Cathedral Grade School and the good people in our class. God Bless.

What a sadness and a loss. Garrett was a bright and beautiful light in my life, in the world, and I will always remember him with great fondness. My most heartfelt sympathies to Meara and all of his family.

Its so hard, so unfair to loose such a good soul as Garrett. We mourn, we live and we love.... may we never forget the fond memories and always grow stronger in the lessons we learned together. Our deepest sympathy to Dede and the whole family.

Wow! What a shock when I opened the paper this morning to read about Garrett. Garrett was an upbeat, quirky, fascinating friend at Wesleyan where he shared his love of film, music, and life. Our paths crossed in Boston where both of us lived for a while after college and then again in Portland where we discovered each other at a paint store shortly after I moved here. I'll miss him.
