To the Hofeld family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Frieda's passing. Even though I haven't seen her for years, she was an old grammer school and highschool friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Dear Al,
Our thoughts are with you. We did not hear of Freeda's passing until this week. A few close friends did not know how to tell us. My mother called Rose to see how Freeda is doing and that is how we found out. I can write a book about my times with Freeda and the family growing up. She will be missed by all.

Freeda and I were best friends growing up in Albany Park, on Eastwood Avenue. On our street, best friends were inseparable-- Freeda and Linda, and our older sisters -- Anna and Edith. From the time we were six 6, Freeda and I were inseparable from morning to night. In those slower, easier days, we played outside until the sun went down, then we'd go home and wait for another day of serious play. On weekends, Freeda was up early with her burst of energy; she'd run over to my house and just play until I came out; then, we'd quietly ease into our ritual of games --fantasy games where Freeda was Sandra Dee and I was Elizabeth Taylor; ball games (hitting the popsicle stick on a bounce), card games (Freeda and Sarah were both great at "War"), and board games that Freeda took very seriously. With her sparkling, funny eyes and big smile, Freeda taught me how to chase and catch lightening bugs that would light up our ring fingers with glowing "diamonds"; Dusk was our favorite time of day, it was mysterious; we could whisper all our dreams and secrets to the stars and each other. I always remembered Rosie's delicious dinners the smell of Hungarian pastry... "chulnt" on Shabbas. Rest in Peace.

To the Hofeld Family:

I was a Flight Attendant with Freeda at Eastern Airlines. It has been many years since I last saw her, but I remember her as a sweet and beautiful woman and I was very surprised and saddened to read about her untimely death. I hope that it brings you some comfort to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great sorrow. May your memories sustain you.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Dear Al and Family:

I was so sorry to learn of Free's passing. Although I only knew her a short time, she was a beautiful, vivacious person and so clearly loved her family. This is a tremendous loss to you and to all of her many friends.

No doubt the many fine accomplishments of her husband and children gave Free great pride and satisfaction. May her memory be a blessing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I haven't seen Freeda's smile since we studied at Loyola and was stunned to read of her passing. She brightened every situation and her positive outlook was absolutely contagious. Her gifts of kindness, humor, beauty, wisdom and common sense formed a rare combination that will never be forgotten.

May G-d comfort you amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Al and Family,
I haven't seen Freeda since we flew together at Eastern but she was as beautiful on the inside as the outside, always caring about other people as you yourself do.
This was such a shock and a terrible loss, as the world was a better place having her in it.
I am so sorry for you and your family....Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
