Aunt Patsy and Dutchman,
I am so very sorry we lost your Freddy. I would like you to know that I thought of him so much more than an Uncle. Most times he was like a REAL DAD to me and my sister and my brother.
I wished that we would have lived closer and seen more of him. Because when we did see him, he treated me more like a father than anyone I have ever known.
Mom always told us that when we were little and lived in Chicago, that we were his favorites (especially me!). But, Mom and Uncle Freddy probably told everyone that.
I just wanted you to know how much I love him. And, even though we did not see each other a whole lot, I thought he was the greatest guy ever. And, I'm sure he did treat us like we were his real kids.
I love you very much, too. I am sure you know that I am very sad for the loss you must be feeling.
I will always continue to pray for you, and that Uncle Freddy will always be with you. Love, Bitsy

I will miss my Freddy. He was so definately one of a kind. I can't remember him not being a member of the family. I could never think of him as a cousin, He was my brother.
He loved family, so. He and Patsy always opened thier home (all thier homes!) with such warm a welcome.
My dearest and most fond memories are fishing at Duck Lake,
him making me work a carnival at his new church when he converted, sitting at thier kitchen table arguing religion and politics, showing off the doll house or the finished basement in Mt. Prosepect, teaching me the value of truth and the laughing, the silly laughing.
It saddens me not to have gone to that wake and funeral. But, I must say that the memories of him sitting on the patio or at the kitchen table - make me smile through the tears.
He was a very rich man ... loved by many, a dear compantion like Dutch, loving friends like Egor, Clint, Joanne and Jimmy and the most wonderful wife any man could ever hope to have, as he will always be in Patsy's heart-and his love will always surround her.
You will be so missed, Darlin.

I knew Fred as a patient in the Dental office, I Don't work there anymore, but he was special enough to stay in my thoughts. I have thought of him often and wondered how he was doing. He was a one of those special people that I could really have great conversation with , we had chats about his illness and my husbands ilness ,Pat was very Lucky to have him as a life's partner. I heard only today that he has passed and I was very saddened by the news. I want to express to Pat and extend my Deepest Sympathy.Fred will always be in my mind as one outstandingly strong man with a uniquely strong woman at his side. Telling my kids about Fred's passing I related my favorite Fred Daubert story. It was the McNicholas family reunion in 1968 and I told Fred that I now had my drivers license, he said, "Oh yeah?" and tossed me the keys to his Cadillac in which I proceeded to joy ride down to 69th Street and show off to all of my friends. Fred gave you more that the shirt off of his back, he gave his heart to any and all who found him. Fred was a rare and beautiful man and we will all miss him dearly. I spoke with Fred two weeks ago today and we were saying good bye (not for the first time - Fred cheated death more often than the hero in a cheap spy novel) and he had no bitterness and no fear, just the usual huge heart full of concern for others. Fred filled a big place in many peoples' lives and we are all better for having known and loved him.
