Frank had a heart of gold, he helped me and others thru some difficult times. Playing little league baseball at Kells field were some of the best times in our lives. My condolences to the Lucchesi family, Frank will always be in our memory.

Dear Lucchesi Family :
My condolences to you. My brother was active on Franks Little League teams and I grew up with Arlene - attended Ryerson School with her and "hung out" in that great old neighborhood of ours. Those were wonderful, happy childhood days. Having lost my father at a very early age and also my husband several years ago, I can understand your sorrow. Take care,

Eileen (Fiebig) Daut

I have such fond memories of Frank during the time I played in his Little League program at Kells in 1964 and 1965. I played on the White Sox and, at first, I didn't make the draft. Needles to say, I was extremely disappointed, especially since all of my friends were selected by various teams. A few days later, I received a call from Frank telling me to come to his house and pick up a uniform, since I was now a member of the White Sox. I immediately ran from my home at Grand and Central Park to Frank's, which was around Chicago Avenue.
While I really had never spoken to him before, he greeted me as if he knew me well. He then told me to go to the basement and pick out a uniform. This is one of the fondest memories I have of my childhood. Thanks, Frank.

Dear Lucchesi Family,
Where do I begin? First, I would like to express my condolences on your loss! I grew up on Ridgeway and was coached by Frank in both baseball & football. I have the fondest memories of those times and of his time & dedication to us kids. I always knew where a could get a cracked bat to play fast pitch in the Ryerson parking lot. Often times I wish I could go back to those simple times. Anyway, I'm sorry for your loss.

To the family and friends of Frank Lucchesi, My heart felt sympathy goes out to each and everyone of you. I am truly sorry for your loss! I played for the Dodgers (minor), Yankees(little) and the Indians Pony League that Frank ran for the Pat Patrone Post. I remember the opening day parades and the hot dogs and pop, too! I still love the game of baseball and thank Frank for all the time he took to run the leagues, prepare the field, and teaching us that we were all important as young men. He was a great man and stood head over heels above the league directors of today. May God bless you all and give you the grace to get through this difficult time. Thanks Frank for all the great times & Memories! And special thanks to his family for sharing him with us kids!!!

My deepest condolences go out to the Lucchesi family. I have many fond memories of Frank and the Little League at Kells in the 60's that he managed. I especially remember the “draft” as we were selected to teams at a hall in his neighborhood. He was a major influence on me, such that when I first married, without kids yet, I too coached Little League to pay it forward. My parents often spoke very highly of him. He helped them by giving their active 5 boys very structured activities. My sympathy to his family, he will surely be missed.

Since the 60's not a year passed that I and others didn't talk about what a positive influence Frank had on our lives. This was one of the most giving people ever. He will be missed, but his memory will live on...

Frank was an amazing influence for a 10 year old boy playing baseball at Kells Park. He made me the Captain of the team just because I knew the game a little better with 4 older brothers before me. I was very nervous playing baseball with kids I didn't know but Frank taught me confidence, have fun, and do whatever you were capable of doing without pressure. He was a major influence over such a short time I was there. Thanks Frank!

February 24, 2012

I will always remember Frank sitting shirtless in center field. I played Little League and football with his guidance and inspiration. My dad was also close to Frank and worked with him for many years. He was truly a Chicago Ave icon. Rest well Frank.

My condolonces to the Lucchesi family. I played at Kells in the 60's and have great memories of Frank and the Little League. He made me an all-star circa 1965 beacuse he found out the game was being played on my birthday. I'm probably the one who made sure he found out. I pass by Kells everyday to and from work and often relive alot of the old memories. Thanks, Frank

Aunt Vera, Butch and Arlene, I can't tell you how much I will miss Uncle Frank. We all have so many wonderful memories over the years. Especially all the tarantella's he danced, waving his white handkerchief, at all the family weddings and parties. The fact that he said the prayer at my wedding and the heartfelt speech he gave. His smile was infectious and he made everyone around him feel so loved.
