Francesco Mastrocola Obituary

Francesco Mastrocola, 83, of Scotch Plains, N.J., died at his daughter's home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. The funeral service will start from the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains, N.J. 07076, on Saturday, May 11, at 8:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bartholomew's Church, Scotch Plains, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, N.J. He moved to the U.S. in 1970 and settled in Scotch Plains. Francesco was a mason for William Kasper for many years. He then helped his grandson and son-in-law start G&A DiMonte Masonry Co. before retiring at the age of 78. Francesco's passion was spending time with his family and in his garden. He found enjoyment in eating a bowl of homemade pasta with lots of hot peppers and a glass of his homemade wine. Francesco is survived by his loving wife, Filomena, and his caring children, Maria, and her husband Tom DiNizo, and Anna and her husband, Joe DiMonte. He loved his family, and adored his five grandchildren and their spouses; his eight great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Carmela and Maria, and his brother.
