Frances Osgood Obituary

Osgood, Frances Laird ``Boots'' age 87, passed away in Seattle, Wa., August 1, 2001, born in Winnetka, Ill., September 23, 1913, the second of four daughters, to Laird and Nathalie (nee Fairbank) Bell. Attended The North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, Ill. and Smith College in Northampton, Ma., married to Gilbert Osgood in 1939, she lived in Winnetka, Ill., from 1913 until 1996. ``Boots'' was involved in many community organizations including the Winnetka Fortnightly Club and Board membership at the Hadley School for the Blind and the Chicago Lying-In Hospital. As a young woman, she proudly worked for the Art Institute of Chicago. ``Boots'' was an avid traveler, tennis player, golfer and skier and maintained an active involvement in the Tahosa Valley Land Owners Association in Estes Park, Co. She is survived by a son, Christopher Osgood, Billings, Mt., a daughter, Nathalie Simsak, Bainbridge Island, Wa., one sister, Nathalie Bell Brown, Tacoma, Wa., and six grandchildren. Her cremated remains will be buried next to her husband, Gilbert, at Memorial Park in Skokie, Il., later this summer. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
