Forrest Edward Eaton, 94, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday April 18, 2014 at his residence, holding hands with his wife and surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Eaton was born on November 21, 1919 in Broadway and was a son of the late Casper and Annie Elizabeth (Dove) Eaton. Forrest worked in Sales for Farmers Supply Company and for The Fox Company. He also worked most recently for Manheim Auto Auction, formerly the Harrisonburg Auto Auction. Mr. Eaton was a member of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church and also was a 55 year member of the Linville-Edom Ruritan Club with perfect attendance. Mr. Eaton enjoyed traveling with his wife and visited 49 states. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
On June 16, 1956 he married the former Geraldine “Gerry” Ritchie Deavers, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Eaton is survived by two sons, Brent Edward Eaton and wife Teresa of Linville, Kent Edwin Eaton of Harrisonburg; a sister, Frances Ritchie and husband Maurice of Harrisonburg; a brother, Glenn Eaton and wife Shirley of Fredericksburg; two grandchildren, Melissa Cash and husband Edwin, Adam Eaton and wife Heather; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Cash, Jacob Cash, Isaac Eaton. Mr. Eaton was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Eaton, Claude Eaton; and two sisters, Mae Eaton and Pearl Rollins.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2 PM at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Radford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 20, 2014 from 4 until 6 PM at McMullen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 3, Singers Glen, VA 22850; or to the Linville-Edom Ruritan Club, P.O. Box 44, Linville, VA 22834.
