Florence Coonfield Obituary

Florence Mae (Fields) Coonfield passed peacefully from this life on February 27, 2009 at the age of 92. Florence was born in Gage, Oklahoma on April 17, 1916 to Ernie Earl and Lillie Mae (Eagon) Fields. She was the third oldest of their nine children, and affectionately known as “Sissy” by her family.

Florence was united in marriage to Aubra Hugh Coonfield on July 4, 1934. They were blessed with the birth of their five children. Florence was a loving and devoted mother. She greatly enjoyed caring for her family and preparing their favorite foods when they would come to visit. Florence was well known for her great cooking, especially her noodles, bierox, cinnamon rolls, and pies. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Aubra; parents, Ernie and Lillie Mae Fields; brothers, Earl “Bud”, Virgil, Leslie, and Buck Fields; by sisters, DaVeda and Marie; by one granddaughter and two great-children; sons-in-law, Gwin Fessler and Donald Morgan; and daughter-in-law, Susan Coonfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Eva Mae Morgan and Lillie Ann Fessler of Shattuck, Oklahoma; by sons, Ernie Coonfield of Follett, Texas, Hugh Coonfield of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Everett Coonfield of Springdale, Arkansas; by thirteen grandchildren, one step-grandchild; by forty-five great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; by sisters, Alice Howard and Oletha Griffin; by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Church of the Nazarene, Shattuck, Oklahoma with burial following in the Gage Memorial Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Shattuck, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made at shawfuneralhome.net
