I have very fond memories of working with Ernie in the Mechanical Properties Group of the Materials Science Division at ANL. Ernie was the one who told me to "eat up" after I ordered something cheap at the first of the monthly lunches of the group that I attended because the check was divided equally. Ernie was the master "scrounger" of the laboratory. If you couldn't find a part, he could and did. I send my sincere condolences to the family.
