Ernest Johnson Obituary

Of Wareham, formerly of Lincoln November 5, 2007. Age 85. Beloved husband of 62 years to Grace M. (Johnson). Loving father of Carolee Hodgdon and her husband Jeff of Lexington, Bruce Johnson and his wife Sue of Germantown, MD and Brad Johnson of Acton. Devoted grandfather of Jeffrey Hodgdon and his wife Christine of Arlington, Todd M. Hodgdon of Arlington and Brett and Michael Johnson both of MD. A Memorial service will be held Fri. Nov. 16 at The First Parish Church 14 Bedford Rd. Lincoln at 3 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Douglass Funeral Home 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Thurs. 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to Eliot Community Human Services Inc. 186 Bedford St. Lexington, MA 02420. Interment is Private. Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 14, 1922 in Toronto, Canada, he was the son of the late Frank E.H. and Lenore (McMeans) Johnson. He attended Kimball Union Academy in NH and graduated from Kettering University in Flint, MI. During WWII he served for the Royal Canadian Airforce. Mr. Johnson worked as a General Building Contractor in Lincoln for 30 years where he built many homes. He also served as the Building Commisioner in Lincoln. A member of the Point Independance Yacht Club in Onset, MA. A member of the Little Harbor Country Club in Wareham. He was an avid Gardener, loved sports including golf, sailing and tennnis. A member of the Badminton and Tennis Club of Boston, also, A member of the Mrs. Wightman's Junior Davis Cup Team, he was a national runner-up, he was ranked #1 in the state in doubles tennis.
