My deepest prayers and condolences to the family of Brother Duncan. Brother Duncan exemplified achievement as he was a dedicated father, World War II Veteran as well as a Buffalo Soldier. He led the move to charter one of the most well-known chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Gamma Upsilon Chapter on March 4, 1950. I thank the family for always making sure Brother Duncan attended events at SIU as well as in Chicago. When Brother Duncan spoke Kappamen as well as other Greeks and students listened with deference and respect. Job well done and rest well on the Golden Shore Brother Duncan.

Zedrick Braden
September 22, 2019
On behalf of the Braden family, I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Emmanuel Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a family friend for many years. He and my parents, Zedrick Braden, Jr, and Mary Jane Braden, attended the University of Illinois in Champaign at the same time. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan continued to be one of my parents' best "couple friends", after college, and they even took time to take a few trips together. In addition to Mr. Duncan being an "all around great guy", he was a wonderful role model for me and my brother, and he was always willing to help those in need. I am most appreciative of Mr. Duncan speaking at my dad's funeral in 2006. He would often visit my dad in the hospital, during dad's illness, and leave me a note that he had been there. He was indeed one of my dad's closest friends, and will be greatly missed. I know that my life is better as a result of having had Mr. Duncan as a mentor and role model over the years.
