This cool guy met this pretty gal at Polonia Grove in 1950. The feature presentation for that night was "When Emil met Adeline". The rest was history.

Papa,
After your passing, I didn't sleep for three days straight. I was, and still am devastated that you are gone, but the one thing that eases this pain is the fact that you are at peace, and are able to understand the impact you have made on not only our family, but all of those who you have touched. I will never forget the memories of our times together, from the times where things seemed rough, to my most cherished memories of the honorable life you have lived. I feel that I have lost my own father in a way, because that is what I would often refer to you as to my own father, "a second father". You instilled values in my life that made me feel like that I could accomplish anything with the right intention, attitude, and mindset. You would often say, "so have you made your first million yet?" and then smile back at me knowing it hasn't occurred yet. As time passes, the pain of your loss will fade; but the memories of you will never. You were not only my grandfather; but also my mentor, my teacher, but most importantly my influence to live life respectfully and to not give up, even if the odds are against you. I will make that million someday, and I hope when that day does come you will be their watching over me, saying "That's my grandson.". I promise to live life to the fullest, and to always keep the values about honesty and respect that you instilled in me before anything else. Please watch over grandma too, you both mean so much to me. So until the day comes where we cross paths at the heavenly gates of god's kingdom, please watch over us and give us your blessings, and strength to always do the right thing. I will make you proud of what I hope to become in life. Please give me the patience and guidance to understand the many obstacles life hands you.
Love Always,
Daniel David Olakowski

Dear Dad Olakowski,
It was a honor to have known you for all those years I was your daughter-in-law. You were such a kind, gentle, compassionate man. You will be missed a greatly. In a sense I feel like I've lost you twice now. I'll never forget you and will always remember how much compassion you had towards sick animals you've had in your life. You amazed me! I'm sure right now they're all with you in heaven. Also, whenever I see a Sunflower, I'll think of you like I always do.(especially if it's a 15ft one!)
Rest In Peace
Love,
Maureen

Adeline, his Army Engineer buddies extend their deepesst sympathy on your loss of Emil. We ate, slept, laughed and sometimes cried and fought the war with him for nearly three years. He was a soldier you could depend on to do his job and that he did very well. His remaining buddies of the 626th Engineers give him a well deserved and final salute.
