Elizabeth Jones Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY - Elizabeth Helen (Rura) Jones was called home on Feb. 10, 2014. It was her wish to spend her remaining days in her home. With care provided around the clock by a close friend, she did.
She was born on April 16, 1926 to the late Mikolaj and Helen (Tarapata) Rura. She was raised in South Deerfield and she attended Clarke School in Northampton.
She was married to the love of her life, Lewis A. Jones, on Nov. 27, 1948. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. John Langow in St. Stanislaus Church. Elizabeth was a beautiful bride and Lewis loved her bright blue eyes. Lewis passed in 2000.
A longtime resident of Chicopee, MA, Elizabeth recently moved to South Hadley to be closer to her dear friend, Joan St. Laurent. She loved to sew and make crafts. She enjoyed many a Wednesday at Baystate Senior Center where she had many good friends.
Elizabeth was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
She leaves one sister, Eleanor Kieras of Hadley, and 15 nieces and nephews, who reside in locations from Massachusetts to California. Many of them will be kept warm by the afghans she lovingly crocheted for them.
Callings hours at the Wrisley Funeral Home chapel, South Deerfield, will be Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11. Burial will immediately follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, South Deerfield.
