Eleanor Ferris Obituary

Stanfordville, NY

Eleanor Ferris, 81, a 40-year resident of Stanfordville, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY with her loving family by her side.

She was born on February 25, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Scheppler) Boyle.

Mrs. Ferris was a Record Management for the Town of Stanford.

She was a member and Deacon of the United Church of Christ; past treasurer of the women's fellowship; past president of the Stanford Lions Club; past president of the Stanford Forever Young Club; past treasurer of Stanford Health Club; member of the Stanford Garden Club; an avid bowler and a member of the Poughkeepsie Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame; a member of the Dutchess County Sports Museum and inducted into the Hall of Fame.

On October 7, 1945 in Freedom Plains, NY, she married Gordan Ferris. He survives her at home.

In addition to her loving husband, survivors include three daughters: Dolores (Dee) Planke of Poughkeepsie, NY, Barbara Berry of Tivoli, NY and Gloria Lang and her husband, Harry of Hyde Park, NY; a son, Vincent Ferris of Newburgh, NY; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Ferris was predeceased by a granddaughter, Joy Lynn Berry.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main St., Pine Plains, NY. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, from the funeral home.

Interment in Stanford Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer, 45 Reade Place Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, or United Church of Christ, PO Box 424, Stanfordville, NY 12581.

Gordon i am so sorry to here of Eleanors passing i am so sorry i wont make i went to NC will be back to late for the mass. I want to say she was a great person and i will sadly miss her..
