Goree, Elaine Hobson
Jul. 12, 1933 - Mar. 1, 2013
Elaine Hobson Goree of Venice, Florida died at home surrounded by her loved ones Friday morning of complications of cancer. Mrs. Goree, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, graduated from Chamblee High School where she was on the Varsity Basketball team. She worked as an underwriter at Georgia Life prior to marriage, and later worked and played at Courtside Tennis Center, Venice, Florida. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Churchill Pomeroy (Roy) Goree, III, her sister, Barbara Lauderdale, and her parents, Quintilla and Edwin S. Hobson of Doraville, Ga. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Winnie Wilson Goree and son, John Franklin Goree, both of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter and son-in-law Anne G. Uhlig and Ray Uhlig of Fullerton, CA. The family would like to give special thanks to friend, former Judge Ed Carter of Venice, formerly of Atlanta. A private memorial service will be held in Atlanta at a later date.
