Dear Chris:
My love and prayers are with you and all of Ed's family and friends. His memory will always be green in my heart.
The life of many of us was richer by having known and worked with Ed over the many years he represented the Chicago Park District so splendidly.
He was always generous in sharing his knowledge with the media. For 25 years I touched base with him at least four times a year while on WBBM so I could let my audience know about special events at the CPD conservatories.
I got to know him first in the years we worked on our separate exhibits in the Chicago Flower and Garden shows at McCormick Place. Over the years, crews working in the hall after midnight got to know each other quite well.
Ed and I worked together as volunteers helping promote the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service Ag Council for Cook County.
Finally, I worked for Ed and CPD as a consultant to save Garfield Park Conservatory. I bless him every time I walk through its doors.

Chris and Family:
It is with a sense of mixed emotions that I offer my sincere condolences to you; your family and a host of friends on the passing of Ed Urso Sr The sorrow and the pain is real.
At a time like this it is normal to be filled with sadness and mourn the loss of a highly intelligent and creative individual, a wonderful husband and partner; a father and grandfather; and just a terrific human being. At the same time the family should also use this time to celebrate the terrific life and legacy of a person who lived long and well, and was a family treasure. Rest well, my friend.
Weeping may endure for the night but joy will come in the morning!!
