I always felt so special to have Ed Sullivan as my godfather! Not because he was THE Ed Sullivan of television, of course, but because he was Ed Sullivan, the very nice, sweet man who was always a joy to know & who is a huge part of my childhood memories. Even though we share the same last name, we are not actually related, but through marriage of others, it sure seems like it; because my family does not have many aunts & uncles, Ed was always the closest I had to an "uncle"; I did not call him that, but he seemed like my uncle, & as I grew older, my friend. Ed was always smiling, & calm; now that I am a mature woman & grandma, I realize the heartache he endured in his life, losing his wife, raising his kids. Yet, Ed certainly had a peace within him that endured all of the years of his life. I truly adored him & felt honored to be his goddaughter. Although we did not see one another often at all, I thought of him a great deal & prayed for his well being. He shall always be in my heart, my memories & I shall always be proud to be Ed Sullivan's goddaughter!
