Samuels, Edward "John" age 79, of Chicago, entered into rest on August 16, 2007. He served the Chicago community in working with the Chicago Park District, the Cook County Sheriffs Department, the Chicago Police Department and retired with the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation. He is survived by the mother of their six children, Patsy, children, John (Sue) Samuels, Kathy (Dan) Truszkowski, Rick (Tomi) Samuels, Mark (Sissy) Samuels, Marty Samuels, and Suzy (Andy) Smith, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Ezekiel Samuels and mother, Antinette. Visitation Sunday, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral Monday, 9 a.m., from funeral home, to St. Thecla Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. For info 708-456-8300.
