Katie, Nick and John -

Ed was my best friend for forty years. Forty years sounds like a long time, but it's nowhere near enough. There are no words to describe how we will all miss Ed. He was the kind of friend that only comes along once in a lifetime. We will not only miss his friendship, but also his kindness, his generosity and his unique sense of humor. His impact on our lives is immeasurable. It's going to be very hard not to pick up the phone and call him after the Bears schedule comes out or they release some vintage concerts on CD/DVD. When you came to Chicago we always got together and would try to see some live music or a Sox or Bears game. He got me into his fantasy football league last year, so we talked a lot last fall. I'm thankful that we had that chance. I'm so glad we were able to get together so often the last few years, and the trips to Las Vegas, especially the one for our 50th birthdays, were special times. Ed was a brother to me, his family was our family. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you and the boys during this tough time.
