Patzman, Dorothy Mary Dorothy Mary Edwards Patzman, beloved mother, mother of Bruce R. (Marian) Patzmann, granmdother of three, Emily Swanson, Tracy and Brian Patzmann, great-grandmother of three, Braeden, Brooke and Lachlan Swanson, She died at her home in Brookfield on October 26, 2006. She was 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Frederick Patzman in 1999, having been married 62 years. She was born January 13, 1916 in Berwyn, Illinois the only daughter of Charles Edward Edwards and Mary Cunningham Edwards. She had three step brothers. Dorothy's father was in real estate and building construction in Oak Park, Illinois who in later years retired to Orlando, Florida. Her father was a great fisherman who would take the family to many states fishing. She spent her younger years shuttling between Florida and Illinois during the winters and summers, enrolling in two schools. She left Sterling Morton High School in 1932. She never drove a car and refused to fly in airplanes. The hours she spent as a young girl traveling between Chicago and Orlando took a toll on her wanting to travel for the rest of her life. Dorothy was a life long resident of the Chicago area, having lived in Brookfield since 1948. She had one son, Bruce Raymond Patzmann born in 1938, a retired Navy and Airline pilot who lives in Kent, Washington. Bruce has been married to Marian Felton Patzmann of Pensacola, Florida these past 41 years. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Paratone in LaGrange, IL for many years until her son graduated college and then she returned to the caring of her home and husband, Ray. Dorothy enjoyed reading, the gathering of friends and relatives, and was a wonderful host. She was funny and enjoyed talking and socializing with most everyone. Over the years as she lost her sight and her hearing she still was faithful to her remaining friends wanting to go celebrate their birthdays together at a nice restaurant. She would sneak a drink and remember the old times. She always had a faithful dog, and her present companion "Billy" will surely miss her as we all will. She touched our lives with her humor and honesty, and her spirit will live within us all forever.
