I was saddened to hear of Dorothy's death. I met Dorothy in Nov 2008 on a trip to Jerusalem. What a wonderful person. I will keep her friends and family in my prayers.

I interviewed Dorothy in 2006, while doing her cousin, Robert Hanley's, (my father-in-law's) biography. Dorothy told me that she lost her father, Frank, when she was 13 years old, that she was fired from her first job as a waitress for being too short, and how she joined the St. Joseph's convent in Milwaukee, WI, so she would not be a financial burden to her mother. She left after 6 months since her mother missed her so much. When Dorothy married Bob Marsh in 1945, he had just returned from the Army Air Corps and fighter duty where he served as a gunner in the B-24 "Liberator." Bob was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for exceptional herorism under fire. Bob and Dorothy spent their lives caring for their parents, siblings and everyone who had the good fortune to be a part of their lives. At her memorial service it was no surprise to see so many friends come to pay their repsects. How much she will be missed.

With heartfelt sympathy to the Marsh family. I am sorry for your loss of such a wonderful, genuine, caring woman. I work at Palos Hospital and had the privilege of working with Dorothy. She was a volunteer for our department. She introduced me to the music of Michael Buble, which was one of her favorite singers. It was my pleasure and good fortune to work with Dorothy. I will miss you always and you will forever be in my heart. I will always love you more each and every day.

I met Dorothy as a freshman at St. Mary of Perpetual Help H.S. in Chicago. Turned out we lived within two blocks of each other so we walked to and from school together. In fact, I stood up for her wedding and we have been close friends ever since. I moved to Yuma some 20 years ago but every time I came back to Chicago I was a guest at her home. She treated me royally and we had many good laughs over the past seventy years. I'm sure heaven's gates have opened for her. (Mary Byers - Yuma, Arizona)

I am the mother of the writer of the previous message of condolence. Dorothy was a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was a loving lady who always made me feel better just to talk to her. I can't imagine anyone finding her heavenly home more quickly than Dorothy. I KNOW that now she is in the arms of the Lord. Lorene Rathnau
