Dorothy Brockus Obituary

Dorothy (Dot) Jensen Brockus 9/5/18 ~ 4/30/08 Dorothy (Dot) Jensen Brockus passed away on April 30, 2008, after a recent diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Dot and her twin brother, Douglas, were born Sept. 5, 1918, to Henry M. and Linda Larsen Jensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High in 1936, the same year as her twin brother died from complications from appendicitis. She married Ellis (Slim) Brockus on June 9, 1951. Together they established the Village Bakery where they made quality bakery products, enjoyed by many loyal customers for nearly 30 years. Many of the employees worked for them for several years because Dot and Slim were so kind and appreciative for their labors. Prior to opening the bakery in 1956, Dot worked as the office manager for W.T. Grant Co., in downtown Salt Lake City. Dot is survived by her brother, Clay E. (Marjorie) Jensen; niece, Sharon (Laird) Shepherd-Rodet; nephews, Ronald (LaVerda) Pohlman, Lynn (Sharon) Pohlman, Clay (Pat) Jensen, Jr.; 12 great-nieces and nephews; 13 great great-nieces and nephews; step-son, Kenneth Brockus; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; parents; twin brother, Doug and sister, Barbara Pohlman. Dot was fiercely independent and rarely asked for help from anyone. She was a truly kind, caring and compassionate lady. Those who loved her will forever remember her because she spoiled everyone she knew, especially kids of all ages. Funeral services for Dot, will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, where family and friends may call from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment to follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street. The family is extremely grateful for the marvelous care Dot received at CareSource the Residence Inn. Please send condolences to the family at: www.larkincares.com

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Dot's family and friends.
I worked for her five or six years,as a cake decorator at Village Bakery. Slim, Dot and her sister, Barbara, were always so very nice to me.
Dot certainly spoiled me. She gave me a bonus when I decorated a wedding cake; she even gave me a small bonus when I drew on a cake, as there was no copy cake machine.
She is "one in a million and will be sorely missed by all.
