Dorothy Begger Obituary

Dorothy Begger, age 76 of Billings, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, at Billings Health and Rehab.
Dorothy was born in Carlyle, Mont., south of Wibaux, to W.L and Pearl Hammond. She started school in Carlyle where her father owned the local grocery store. She also attended schoo1 in Ollie, Mont. and in 1945 the family moved to Wibaux where she finished high school. Dorothy went on to attend two years of college at Eastern in Billings before marrying Frank Begger on Oct. 9, 1948.
Frank and Dorothy moved to Billings in 1955 where they managed a Union 76 Station on 24th Street. However, in 1958 they decided to move back to their home town of Wibaux, where Dorothy went to work as a bookkeeper for her father's farm equipment business, Hammond Implement. She served as the bookkeeper there for nearly 37 years. Frank and Dorothy purchased the business from her father in 1975, but sold it six years later and moved to Mesa, Ariz. They resided there for 22 years until moving back to Montana in 2002.
Over the years, Parkinson's Disease and bladder cancer took its toll on Dorothy. Frank cared for her in their home for seven years, until her move into Billings Health and Rehab in June 2003. While in Billings, Dorothy was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Frank Begger of Billings; her sister, Faye Pierce of Billings; sister-in-law, Verna Bakken of Billings; and brother-in-law, Albin Begger of Wibaux; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Grace Anderson.
Vigil Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday evening Feb. 10 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday Feb. 11, at St. Thomas, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Big Spy Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT, 59017-5033, or the charity of one's choice.
Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements.
