Doris Sleister Obituary

Homemaker STAPLETON, Ga. - Ms. Doris H. Sleister, 65, of Warren County, died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003 in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Sutphin and Jon Richards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ms. Sleister was a native of Glascock County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. She was a strong-willed woman with a generous heart, who knew and loved the Lord. She will surely be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Hobbs, her mother, Pearl Hobbs, two brothers, Lee and Lester Hobbs, and a sister, Nora H. Story. Survivors include her companion, partner, and friend of 30 years, E.T. Rabun, Jr.; she mothered three children by the late Robert Sleister, a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Larry T. Johns, Stapleton, her elder son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Carren Sleister, Dearing, and youngest son, Ambrose C. Sleister II, Trion; two brothers, Davis Hobbs and Barton Hobbs, both of Stapleton; seven sisters, Bobbie Whitaker, Creven, Janette Perdue, Wrens, Iris King, Morrow, Ann Smith, Camak, Weslyn McGee, Covington, June Widener, Thomson, and Betty Jo Hobbs, Dearing; and eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Christopher Johns, Joshua Johns, A.J. Sleister, Barry Russell, Wright Perdue, Mike Hobbs, Jody Hobbs, and Jammie Smith. Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. She will surely be missed by many who knew and loved her. God Bless. 'Fly, Fly away our beautiful bird to the Son.'
