Donnie Sarvis Obituary

LATTA -- Mr. Donnie Leo Sarvis Jr., 64, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at St. Eugene Medical Center after an illness. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Marion.

Mr. Sarvis was born in Marion a son of Lizzie Byrd-Sarvis and the late Donnie Leo Sarvis.

He was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Sarvis was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he graduated from Navy A-Schools and Recruiting School. He was also a former employee of Southern Bell.

Mr. Sarvis is survived by his wife, Janette West Sarvis of the home; sons, David (Misti) McLaughlin of Florence and Roger Sarvis of Latta; daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Banks of Villa Rica, Ga., and Cassandra (Chris) Kersey of Latta; brothers, Billy (Nina) Sarvis of Wartrace, Tenn., Bobby (Joanne) Sarvis of Florence and L.D. Richardson of Florence; a sister, Sarah Frances Sarvis of Florence; and five grandchildren, Chelsea and Michael Banks of Villa Rica, Ga., and Leanna, Katlin and John David McLaughlin of Florence.
