Donald Shannon Obituary

Shannon, Donald T. age 74, died peacefully at home on August 15th. He enjoyed a long career in the Graphic Arts Industry as a member then Principal of a major chicago based printing equipment firm and then continued as an appraiser and broker of equipment until shortly before his death. A wonderful and supportive husband of Joan (nee Ryan) and devoted father of five, Kathleen (George Wild), Maribeth (Michael Cramer), Donald G. (Wendy), Colleen (Tracy Mango) and the late Kevin Shannon. He was surrounded by his family. He was the proud grandfather of six, Brooke and Jackie Shannon, Ryan Cramer, Kevin Wild, Lindsey and Cameron Mango and loving brother of Mary Wilson and Carol Meyerhoff. Friends may visit Tuesday, August 19th, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. A private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kevin Shannon Foundation, c/o Mesirow Financial, 350 N. Clark, Chicago, IL., 60610, the Dept. of Uncology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, 1725 W. Harrison St., Suite 863, Chicago, IL. 60612 or to Little Company of Mary Hospice Program, 9800 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn, IL., 60453. For info., 708-636-1193 or 773-735-4242.

I knew Mr Shannon when I was a young person working in finance. He did many appraisals for me in the graphic arts realm. Mr. Shannon was so kind and really, like a surrogate dad to a lost kid. I will be forever grateful to have met him and to have learned about his family and what a good dad looks like. I fell out of touch many years ago, but never forgot Mr Shannon agd his kindness.

Thanks for sharing him with all of us in the banking world. We learned a lot from him.
