I worked with Judge Donald J. O'Brien, chief judge of the Chancery Division, as his assignment clerk. I learned a lot from him and have tons of memories. I am sorry for your loss.

Don, Sean and Brendan,
I am so sorry to read of your father's passing. You family was a big part of my teen years. Your parents kept me employed as your babysitter and sometimes working at a dinner party. They made it so I did not need to work elsewhere, even purchasing my class ring. Many years later, I reconnected with your Dad. I reported for jury duty for a trial presided by him. I know you're all feeling his absence

Don in his own way made me a better lawyer. As a young lawyer it was well known that he brought his black binder of case law he accumulated over the years as an insurance defense lawyer with him to the bench and you better be prepared to counter them when assigned to Don for trial. I tried a few cases before Don and settled several others over the many years of our acquaintance. He was one of the finest trial judges I ever had the pleasure to work with. I was sad when he retired. He will be missed as a colleague and a friend. My condolences to Don, Brendan and the rest of his family.
