Retta, Donna, Debbie and family: I just want you to know that I feel such a great loss at your dad's passing. He was more than a brother-in-law to me. He was my big brother. He was always concerned about me and my children's welfare when I was going through hard times. He was my rock. My boys loved him so very much and I know he had a special place in his heart for them. Although we had not seen each other in recent years, just knowing he is not there leaves a void. He is in a much better place and I am sure he is one of the most special spirit there. Probably getting the troops whipped into shape. I loved him very much.

We are so saddened to hear of the death of Uncle Don. We were looking at photos the other day of Don helping Walt get his dress blues on and readied for our wedding. He was full of life and such a great guy. I have so many childhood memories of him. He will be missed greatly. May he rest in peace now and no more suffering. I hope Aunt retta and the girls remain strong during this very sad time. I will miss him. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Unlce Don was one of those men in a boys life whos influence will last forever. I know he'll be missed by his great family, myself and all his nieces and nephews, as all great men are.

He was the best father in the world. He and my mom went without and worked hard to make a better life for us. He loved us very much. It was funny watching him with his grandchildren. They had him wrapped around their little fingers.
He is now in God's loving hands and no longer in pain. But he knows that I miss him with all my heart.
Love,
Debbie

Aunt Retta,
I have the greatest memories of you and Uncle Don in my childhood. Although we have not kept in touch, you have been in my heart. I think of all of you often and with love. I hope Uncle Don finds the peace his body needs to rest, and that he will stop by and say hello to my dad. Take Care of yourself...
Love, Darlene

You will be greatly missed. I am glad you are not suffering anymore, but sad you won't be here with us on earth any longer. I will miss talking to you on the phone and you asking how are you doing, when you were so sick.
You were like a brother to me, always worring about the next person. You and Walt will continue to be buddies in Heaven.
