News Death Notice

KIRK, Donald T. Age 78 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at his residence. She was born November 17, 1929 in Casstown, Ohio. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart, a member of the Lost Creek United Church of Christ, member of the 1970 Troy Redman National Champions, a sports enthusiast and Past Master of Mt. Olivet #226 Masonic Lodge. He was also the last player elected into the Miami County Fast-pitch Hall of Fame. He was the Post Master for the US Post Office in Christiansburg for 31 years before retiring. Mr. Kirk was preceded in death by his parents George H. and Dorothy (Moyer) Kirk, his wife Faye E. Chronabery (2000), one brother Charles, in Korea and one sister, Betty, in childhood. Survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law: Mark Kirk of Troy, Jim and Beverly Kirk of Acworth, Georgia and Michael Kirk of Troy; one daughter and son-in-law: Pam and Dennis Shamblin of St. Paris; three brothers and sisters-in-law: David K. and Joan Kirk of Troy, Roger and Nancy Kirk of Casstown and Tom and Betty Kirk of Casstown; eight grandchildren: Shawn, Amanda, Ryan, Matthew, Dillon, Trevor, Megan and Deanna; three great-grandchildren: Baylee, Zachary and Skyler. Funeral service 10am Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Lostcreek United Church of Christ, 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Rd., Casstown, Ohio 45312. Pastor Jason Egbert officiating. Burial Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio. Masonic Services will be held at 8:15 P.M. Friday at the church. Friends may call at Lostcreek UCC from 4-8 P.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Kirk Scholarship Fund c/o Lostcreek United Church of Christ, 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Rd., Casstown, OH, 45312 or Hospice of Miami County, P.O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373. Friends may express condolences to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com
