Donald Jonte Obituary

DONALD MILTON JONTE 84, of Orinda, died February 10, 2006 of metastatic cancer. Born to John Herbert Jonte and Bada Sophia (Johnson) in San Jose on October 9, 1921, Don was raised in Stockton. He served as a captain in the Army during medical school, graduating from Stanford University in 1945. He practiced anesthesiology at Providence Hospital in Oakland for 32 years. He loved the wilderness of California, and climbed many of the peaks of the Sierra Nevada on backpacking trips with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Ann (Leach) Jonte; his brother, Haworth; his six daughters, Diane, Donna, Janet, Julie, Joyce, and JoAnn, and eight grandchildren.
