DONALD BUCHANAN Obituary

Donald C. Buchanan "Harmonica Man" Born in Chehalis, WA 7-2-1920, passed away on 9-10-2011. Married Norene Bartel, with whom he had two daughters, Donna and Judy. Proudly served in the USMC during WWII. Married to "The love of his life," Kay Church, in 1972 until her passing in 2000. Lived in the Seattle area and Alaska. He was a waiter, floor coverer, commercial setnet fisherman, and storyteller. His retirement was dedicated ato volunteering for the Lions Club in Soldotna, Burien, and Lacey, and entertaining with his harmonica. Don spent a very happy last year with longtime friend, Mildred Evenson, in Kasilof, AK. Favorite pastimes included golf, pool, cribbage, and Name that Tune on the harmonica. Survived by daughters Donna (Dan) Mortenson and Judy Vigoren, grandchildren Darwin (Tina) Mortenson, Tony (Kristi) Pederson, Deanna Mortenson, Jack (CoeAnn) Church, and Jill (Paul) Nelson, 9 great-grandchildren, great-great-granddaughter Jenna Smith, nephew and golf/pool buddy Jim Swalley, and 6 more nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers Buck and Gordy, sisters Anne and Erma, and granddaughter Tami Pederson. Dad lived a happy and fulfilled life for 91 years with many friends and family.
