He was a great guy, very loyal and always thinking. A for real hero that I was happy and proud to have known. Life is too short not to talk to your friends when time permits. We went on a great fishing trip once when we were in 017. We had a blast.

I am a Midnight Watch Violent Crimes Detective in Area One, arguably one of the busiest
Areas in the City of Chicago. For a whole year last year, Det. Dominik Doris was also a Midnight Violent Crimes Detective. During this time, I realized that Dominik wasn't in the Majority as far as Detectives go. He wasn't the paper-pusher- sitting-at-the-desk type of Detective. He wasn't the Detective that would wait in the office for the call that a fresh Homicide just occurred. Dominik would respond to the 1st radio call and arrive moments after a Homicide occurred, ready to pick up the case while the trail was still hot. At the start of his shift, on a busy cold winter night or hot summer weekend in Chicago, he would grab his radio and HIT the streets. Riding on Hot calls by himself, conducting street and traffic stops by himself, and assisting our fellow street officers all while by himself. I recall one busy night when officers in the Englewood district were chasing a man for a gun. After a lengthy foot chase, It was at first thought the man had gotten away. Until Dominik got on the radio, continued the chase, and ultimately apprehended the individual. We would sometimes make it a game and see who would get the first gun pinch(Arrest) one month or who would make the first Homicide pinch the next month. That was text book Dominik. Dominik didn't like to wait for things to happen, Dominik wanted to make things happen. I will Greatly miss our fellow Detective Brother. He was not only larger-than-life but so full of the energy and enthusiasm that we would all like to live our lives. I extend my deepest sympathies and regrets to Dominik's family. Dominik will be sorely missed by everyone. On the day I meet my final judgement, as all of us will one day, I will look forward to seeing him again.

Dominick was our neighbor and he stopped a break in several years ago in our building, getting stabbed twice in the process and putting the thief in the hospital and in jail. He was a friend, and a good man in a storm. We'll miss him. Jeff and Hope

I was saddened to hear of Dominick's passing, I was in Dom's classroom in the academy, he was such a good guy, and a better PO. He will be missed. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

A Reminiscence
YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.
May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.
Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;
To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.
