So sad to have learned of the passing of Denise. Most of my fondest childhood memories were spent with her. The 60s was an amazing time to grow up having Denise as your BEST FRIEND made it even more so. From school day walks to St. Daniel to running around on that Kelly Green basement floor while the Beatles DaveClark5 or the Turtles sang out from our 45's. My first McDonald's burger fries and shake were shared with Denise. IT WAS A HAPPY MEAL BEFORE THEY WERE INVENTED! I got to see the Sound Of Music downtown Chicago with the family and a dinner at the famous Bergdorf Restaurant afterwards. The Conlisk family always made me feel like their own. They even convinced me I was Irish on St. Patrick Day. It was magical I believed it! Sleepovers meant TEEN magazines and a trip to the 10cent ailes at High Low for carmelcorn. Summertime was busy making whirlpools in the yard then with a transistor radio in hand off to the corner drug store on Rutherford for a popsicle to share. Fall meant Halloween we were professional trick or treaters making multiple trips home to unload our cherished treats. The opening of Ford City brought a new excitement for us. We found the perfect 8th grade dance and graduation dress at Lerner. She looked so beautiful and her hair was the envy of many girls. Being a year older than me she would not allow me to be bullied for being the youngest in her school group. She taught me the meaning of true friendship. Never a fight jealousy or harsh word came between us. As with many childhood friendships high school began a new chapter. There was a mutual understanding of this. Yet to this day I feel blessed to have shared the formative years with her. There was no better friend to have grown through childhood with than Denise. Rest In Peace my sweet friend thank you for sharing in my life along the path that has taken you to Heaven. Mr. Reape I learned years ago when I too lost my spouse...that sympathy has no vocabulary.... My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the Conlisk family.
