David Lee Stump, 70, Nappanee, died 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at his home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1950, in Elkhart, to Leighton James and Arlene (Geyer) Stump. On Nov. 30, 1984, he married Cathy (Blosser) Stump.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy, Nappanee; five children, Katie (Sam) Reece, Marquette, Michigan, Emily Stump, Nappanee, Abigail Stump, Nappanee, Tyler Stump, Nappanee, and Andrew Stump, Nappanee; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Aubrey, Janet and Sammy; his mother, Arlene Stump, Wakarusa; sister, Diana (Cliff) Graybill, Bremen; brothers, Steven (Barbara) Stump, Wakarusa, Terry (Delores) Stump, Wakarusa, Mark (Stephanee) Stump, Angola and Rex (Jenny) Stump, Wauseon, Ohio.
Preceding him in death is his father, Leighton, and one grandchild.
David graduated from Bob Jones University with a bachelor's degree and Master of Divinity. He went on to be pastor of Southwest Bible Church for 31 years. He also delivered parts for Advance Auto, Goshen. Anyone who knew David knew of his humor and wit, matched only by his father … and maybe his brothers. David loved to read from his Bible commentaries to mystery or history. His love of books was only surpassed by his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. David enjoyed meeting new people and sharing stories.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, also one hour prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14,, at Southwest Bible Church, 24899 C.R. 40, Goshen. Pastor Jim Kintigh, Pastor Rex Stump and Pastor David Harper will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery.

Even though I haven't seen David since school, I remember the good times we had talking at school and family reunions. I have kind of kept up with him and his family from other family members . He will be missed by everyone. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss, he was a very good person.
