“My Story of Davey”
The Friendship of Fate
Thirteen…
Thirteen was the age we were when we first met
That was the day that led to a path in my life that I’ll never forget
You were a typical boy who liked a girl
Always picking on me and giving me hell
I liked your best friend, and you liked me
What a circle of fate that turned out to be
Joey was killed and we were all so devastated
But our friendship grew strong we were friends to share the pain with
Sometime had passed by and you finally confessed
You said…..
I’ve loved you since the day we met I was so ashamed to say
Since Joey was my best friend I felt guilty in a way
Will you be my girlfriend you said with a shaky voice
I said yes while trembling, your speech gave me no choice
We lasted one year exactly to the date
But our relationship didn’t end there it was a friendship of fate
We were as close as we ever were, nothing seemed to change
Our teens turned into our twenties, and there we still were
Our contact grew scarce, only speaking once a year
You called on my birthday every year without fail
We’d stay on the phone for hours talking about old tales
We made a promise that when we were thirty
We would get married if know one else came along
Thirty came and still you were there…what about our promise you said?
We both laughed at the thought of our childish plan
We kept in touch until 3 years ago
After I moved I just couldn’t find you…
Now my hearts heavy and filled with much regret
Of losing touch with my friend, one I’ll never forget
I’ve missed you so much in the last 3 years
Now I’ll miss you a lifetime, and that fills me with tears
So for now its goodbye, until we meet again
Please visit me in my dreams my dear, dear friend
When we meet in our next life I’ll be sitting on the sidelines
Watching you pitch to Joey just like it was old times
Friendship and Love Forever
