Darlene Wolff Obituary

Darlene M. Wolff of Sun City West, Arizona and Des Moines, Washington, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2005 at the age of 75 from cancer.Darlene was born in the small farming community of Arkansaw, Wisconsin. She was the last daughter of nine children. She attended business school and was quite proud of her ³diploma² from the ³School of Hard Knocks². In her early twenties, she traveled west to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where she met and fell in love with a handsome forest manager from the Weyerhaeuser Company, R.M. (Jack) Wolff. Darlene and Jack celebrated 49 wonderful years of marriage. She dedicated her life to her husband and her three children, and most joyously to her seven grandchildren.Darlene was an independent, loving spirit and once admitted that she would have been a hippie, if she were of that generation. She was a life-long learner and was willing to try anything new. She loved being in the company of others and playing tennis and bridge with good friends. She even won a bridge match days before her passing. She played the piano, sewed long hours into the night, golfed, tried snow skiing and water skiing even though she was afraid of water. Besides her family, she enjoyed lively conversations at the kitchen table late at night, tending to a sick friend, chronicling the family history, serving meals at the local hospital and cleaning and mending clothes for Pregnancy Aid of Des Moines. She believed in God, angels, education, hard work, bleach, Dial soap, laughter, and ³telling it exactly like it is². Darlene continued to ³earn her wings² when she retired with Jack in 1982. In retirement, she found friendship, fun, and her passion for helping others in need and was, a devoted and loving care giver for Jack.Darlene is the dearly beloved wife of Jack Wolff. Loving mother of Jenise Falk of Danville, California; Susanne Vander Heyden of Renton, Washington; Phillip Wolff of Belfair, Washington; their spouses: Brad Falk, John Vander Heyden, Yvonne Wolff. She was a devoted grandmother to: Stephanie, Eric and Michelle Vander Heyden; Allison and Katie Falk; Hans and Garrett Wolff. Sister to Marge Driscoll, Katherine Schlosser and her twin brothers ³Bud² and Bob² Hartung. In-law to: Mary Ellen Hartung, Pat Hartung, Gladys Hartung, Eric and Shirley Maiefski, and Jim and Mary Owens. She leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Grandview Care Center in Sun City West, Arizona, for their compassion and commitment to the care of Jack and Darlene. She is interred at Sunland in Sun City, Arizona. We also wish to thank the many friends and relatives who helped Darlene in her time of need.In remembrance of Darlene Wolff, donations may be made to Pregnancy Aid, Des Moines Branch, P.O.
