Scanlon, Daniel D. 86, mayor of Morton Grove for 10 years, beloved husband of the late Betty; loving father of Mary (Paul) Zimmermann, Patty (Doug) Neumann, Eileen (Keith) Harford, Joan (Larry) Alberts, Peggy (Ken) Leib and the late David, Thomas and Daniel; dear grandfather of Elizabeth, Sarah, Stephanie, David, Brian, Jennifer, Megan, Katelyn, Matthew, Michael, Julia and Benjamin; fond brother of Brenda and the late John and Kevin; cherished brother in law of Mary Catherine. Memorial visitation at St. Martha Catholic Church 8523 Georgiana Ave. Morton Grove, IL 60053 Wednesday, 3 p.m. until time of memorial mass at 8 p.m. Family and friends will meet at Simkins Funeral Home 6251 Dempster St. Morton Grove, IL 60053 on Thursday to depart at 10 a.m. for the inurnment at All Saints Cemetery. I mostly knew Mayor Scanlon as a public official, but I could tell from the way he beamed when he spoke of his family that he was a loving, caring man. May he rest in peace.
