Kennedy, Daniel P. "Chuch" Age 63 suddenly beloved husband and lifelong soulmate of Mary F. nee Burns. Loving father of Colleen (Joe) Dugandzic, Sharon (Joe) Gusich, and Darleen (Troy) Steele. Dearest Poppy of William, Ashley, Ryan, Emily, Makayla, Mckenzie, Joe-Joe, Anthony, T.J., Jimmy and Katie. Devoted son of the late James "Bud" and Bernice (nee Callahan) Kennedy. Dear brother of Robert (Christine) and the late James Jr. (the late Nancy) and William (Maria) Kennedy fond nephew of Laverne (nee Callahan) Callan. A special uncle to Zachary, Steven, Jackie, Louis, Kurt and Angela. Cherished brother-in-law of Sharon, Robert, Betty and Shirley Burns. Best friend and "BROTHER" to Charles Doran. Decorated veteran U.S. Army Vietnam War 5th Cavalary Medic, and a retired stationary engineer for the Chicago public schools, a member of the Canaryville Veterans Association, and VFW Post # 6870. Chuch was a diehard Cubs fan and loved Motown music and a crossword puzzle fanatic, he will be missed by many. Funeral Friday 9:15 AM from Thomas McInerney's Sons Funeral Home 4635 S. Wallace St. to St. Gabriel Church for mass of Christian burial at 10 AM. Visitation Thursday 2 PM to 9 PM. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Ellwood Illinois. Dan never spoke about his escapades in Viet Nam, but he was a true hero in every sense of the word. He was a medic the received 2 Bronze Stars and not many people knew this. I just felt they should since he would never talk about it himself. Even though I haven't seen him much over the last several years I'll still miss him very much.
