Dickson, Dale E. born June 15, 1923, son of Thomas Bartley Dickson and Sarah Sears Dickson, died at age 86 on May 10, 2010 in Chicago after a period of deteriorating health. Dale served in the Army in Europe in WWII, and later attended U of I in Champaign-Urbana, where he met and married Shirley Odegard, with whom he had sons Dirk and Kent. After his divorce, Dale lived in downtown Chicago, working as an advertising copywriter, where he introduced his suburban kids to Bebop jazz, abstract art, and restaurant dining. In 1963, Dale married Louise Lyman, who survives him, to whom he was devoted. Their life together on the near North Side was intimate and very private, in an apartment overfilled with stacks of books. Dale will be greatly missed by his wife, his sons and daughters-in-law, and all those who knew him. No public services are planned.

I was searching for genealogy and came across Dale's obituary. Very sorry to hear of his passing. Too bad we didn't get to know each other, as we were first cousins. Our parents were brothers.
