Wolken, Cyril "Cy" D. 89, beloved husband of Essie Novick Wolken and the late Roslyn (nee Katzenberg), devoted father of Hal (Cindy) Wolken , Jody (the late Dr. Gabriel) Schwartz, Robin (Mitchell) Melamed and David (Michelle) Novick, proud grandfather of Eric (Lauren) Schwartz, Robin Schwartz, Ross, Seth and Zachary Wolken, Matthew (Rebecca Lubens) Melamed, Carly (Daniel) Goldstein, Corey Novick and Jordyn Novick, cherished great-grandfather of Gabrielle and Ari Schwartz, dear brother of the late Irving (Marina) Wolken. Services Friday, 11 a.m., at Temple Beth- El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook, IL 60062. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to Temple Beth-El or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Essie and the Wolken Family,
Our deepest condolences on the loss of Cy, a wonderful man whose legacy has streched further than many may know. I only learnt of Cy's passing this weekend as a result of searching for information on Bleyco Paper and researching information on restaurant suppliers in the Denver area to help identify an amnesia victim using the pseudonym Benjaman Kyle.
Cy was an inspiration. A man with strong ethics who demonstrated to many how kind and caring he was. He is someone I will not forget and whose example we should all follow.
May the Wolken family find peace through and cherish the many wonderful memories.
Rest in peace Cy.

Dear Es & Hal and Family,
My deepest sympathy to you and your families.
Knowing Cy for almost all my life I was priveledged to have spent such quality time with him and your family.
He was always attentive and sharp as a tack.
We always enjoyed chatting and his interest in all of my endeavors where always genuine.
My prayers are with you all during this time of Mourning.
May his memory be a guiding light for all of you and your families.

Way back in 1943 Cy and I were enrolled together in the Signal Corps Electronics courses at what was then Armour Institute. Even then he was an outstanding presence of intelligence and quiet introspection.
As I sit here and compose this epistle I, in my mind's eye, can hear his voice, feel his gentle understanding demeanor, and see that bright joyful gleam that always permeated his eyes.
The six months that we spent together at the Institute will always be a highlight of my life.
He leaves this world a better place as as a result of his presence.
