Cynthia Dowling Obituary

Township Eight – Cynthia L. Dowling, 54, wife of the late John W. Dowling, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born March 11, 1950 in Connecticut, the daughter of Rupert and Edna (Stocks) Adams. For many years, she worked at Down East Health Services. Following the death of her husband, Cynthia stayed at home, focusing on raising her three daughters. Recently, she had taken classes at the Ellsworth campus of the University of Maine, and was two semesters shy of obtaining her Associates Degree in Social Services. Cynthia enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sara Dowling, Lauren Dowling, and Jennifer Reed and her husband Patrick, all of Township Eight; her grand daughter, Erin Leigh Reed; and her canine companion, Ginger. Cynthia will also be missed by special friends Carl Ingerson, Dana Johnston and Emly Dalton, and many friends she made in the community throughout the years.

The family would like to thank Tina Kegley for helping them during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, August 27 at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth with pastor Robert Maddocks officiating. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.

A memorial register is available online at Legacy.com.

My deepest sympathy for Cindy's family. My sister Charlene Swain, was childhood friends with Cindy, they stayed in touch as much as possible after Charlene moved from Township 8, I am Charlene's sister, Rose and grew up in Township 8, and also had the pleasure of knowing Cindy. I hadn't seen her in years, but remember what a beautiful person she was. So full of energy, a very thoughtful and caring person. She will be sadly missed by the "Swains" God Bless!
