Clarence Precin Obituary

Precin, Clarence "Whitey" June 27, 1925 - December 26, 2011. Age 86, resident of Tinley Park, IL formerly of Burbank, IL. Devoted and loving husband of 63 years to Suzanne (nee Mitchell). Whitey and Sue spent their years as friends and partners; loving and growing a family of six children, through the hard times and good times. Dedicated father to Susan Pierorazio (Fernando), Gary Precin (Debbie), Dawn Evanchik (Stephen Elliott), Denise Arthur (Wayne), Scott Precin (Kim), and Robert Precin (Jeanine). Dad is truly our personal treasure and without a doubt, the greatest and bravest man we'll ever know. We are so proud to have had a father who was respected and loved so much by so many. Not only did we lose our Dad, we lost our buddy, mentor, confidant, protector, and best friend. He was a part of everything we did. Our hearts are broken but our memories and joys of Dad are immeasurable. Proud grandfather of Gina Hampton (Dan), Paul, Marc, Justin, Holly Donovan (Jim), Jeff (deceased), Grant, Matt, Michael (Tina), Tyler, Ryan, Brandon, Erin and Robbie. Beloved great grandfather of Michael, Daniel, Zachary, Skylur, Paige, Jimmy, Aubrie and Nate. Revered uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Stephen and mother Jeanette, (nee Meckes) Precin, Stepmother Eileen Precin and half brother Stephen Precin and his precious sister Rita Jean Bresnahan. Whitey served as a Sonarman on the USS PC 1122 Patrol Craft in the United States Navy and was stationed in the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was responsible for underwater surveillance, assisted in safe navigation and aided in search, rescue and attack operations. He was the President and owner of Home Building Supply Company in Tinley Park for nearly 30 years and retired from the company in 2008 at the age of 83. As a teenager he took second place in the Illinois State Field Archery Tournament and represented the United States in International Competition. He took his archery skills to deer hunting until he realized it was more fun to feed the deer then it was to hunt them. He was an avid bowler, golfer and skeet shooter. A passionate fisherman who loved his fishing trips with his family and his annual trips with his sons and his "fishin buddies" up on the house boats in Rainy Lakes, Minnesota. His love for fishing has been passed down to even the youngest of his great grandchildren. He was a member of the Builders Tee Club, an association of home builders that cultivated friendships and good will among its members. He was a skilled craftsman, "Jack of all trades" but "master of all" who designed and built the home that he and Sue raised their children in and also the home next door where his sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Gerald Bresnahan raised their family. Whitey was an honorable, compassionate, trusting and generous man who found good in all people. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and made everyone laugh with his quick wit and great sense of humor. He seized life to the fullest and loved it passionately. He was admired and respected by those who came to know him, even if for a short period of time. For those who had the pleasure to know him well, their relationship will always be cherished. To know him was to love him and he will be sorely missed. May you rest in eternal life with the Lord. Visitation Thursday, December 29th, 2011 from 11:00am - 9:00pm. Funeral Friday, December 30th at 9:00am at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park. Stone Church service 10:00am. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.

I didn't know your father, but the obituary reminded me of my father...they must've come from the same mold! My dad's been gone almost 28 yrs now, he would've been 80 this coming year. The pain never goes away, it just seems to get easier as each day goes by. Knowing he's in Heaven and in God's Hands brings me Peace. Hold onto your precious memories, this will sustain you all.
My Condolences to the family.

I did not have the good fortune to have known Mr. Precin, and judging from the loving tribute, I know my life would have been even better if I had. My sincere condolences to your family. Just know that he is making old friends happy now with his presence among them in God's kingdom...

I just found out about Whiteys passing, this is aweful. The world has lost one of the few great guys who had a way of making you smile by just entering the room. I saw him at church not long ago and was recently scanning the church in hopes of bumping into him again. He wil be missed by all, he was very special Ed Sylvester

I worked for Whitey for many years at HBS. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His generosity knew no bounds and he inspired a tremendous loyalty. He was meticulous in what he did - his drawings were like works of art in their detail and neatness. Whitey was the type of person, who, on a hot summer day, would make a special trip to bring back ice cream to everyone. He wouldn't just bring back a few cones or a quart of vanilla, he would bring back four or five tubs of every flavor, just so everyone would be happy! Whitey was someone who took great pride in his family and friends. I have always felt blessed to have come to know and love Whitey and his family. He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

Grandpa,
You are such a unique person that I can't possibly fit it all into one paragraph but I am going to sum it all up. Since I was a child, I can remember as far back as you taking me to Chuck E Cheese. I still recall the $20 you would give me to play games. After growing out of the Chuck E Cheese days I had then wanted to learn about fishing. Fishing was something you took such pride in and knew so much about. I can remember you giving me all the advice about fishing and letting me fish in the pond in the backyard. I remember catching all the fish right in your backyard and wanting to then go and brag to everyone how I did this. These memories are all going to live on because there is not one day someone will not be laughing and smiling about all the times we had with you. Tina and I still tell stories of all the memories we shared with you and Grandma and there is never a dull moment when speaking of you two. There was such love in everything you and Grandma did and we learned a lot from it. We were able to experience a lot of great things because of you and we are proud to tell everyone. We love you and are thankful we had one more Christmas with you. It is God's turn to experience your grace and soon enough we will meet again. Just remember....A grandfather is someone you can never outgrow your need for.

Love Always & Forever,
Michael & Tina Precin

Whitey was not only my employer but a wonderful friend.I will treasure our friendship forever. He was like a 2nd Dad to me after my own Dad passed. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family who have been great friends also. They truly had a wonderful role model. His obituary is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person. I would love to hear his song of eye eye eye poke em in the eye just one more time. He made us smile every single day and he always smelled so good too. I love you Whitey and will miss you so very much.

To the Precin Family,

I never got the pleasure of meeting Whitey but I have heard many wonderful things about him.

When my brother passed away, someone sent this to us and it helped comfort our whole family as I hope it will comfort your's also.

My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family, Susie!

Love you!

To My Dearest Family:

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there are no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all what God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Gary, Scott and the entire Precin family.

December 28, 2011

From the time you first met Whitey, you knew he was something special. His intellect and quick wit, plus his way of always joking around, put you at ease right away. He was my FATHER-In-Law for over 20 years and helped us in all things, from house repairs, and renovations to our home in Oak Lawn, to advice on finances, taxes, auto repair, etc.. And, by the way, he taught me how to fish.
Indeed, I caught my first musky with Whitey's teaching. Thru him we enjoyed many good and fun years fishing, and we're now teaching our kids how to fish, "The Whitey Way"
You will undoubtedly be reading many fine memories in this guest book, though words are not enough to fully embrace the man himself.
Forever in my heart and always in my prayers,
I will never forget him.
Joe Evanchik.

Thoughts and prayers to the Precin family on your loss.

December 28, 2011

This is perhaps the most beautiful obituary I have ever read! To leave a legacy such as this with your family is the greatest of all gifts....I remember Gary from high school, he was a polite, good looking guy who always smiled. I can understand now the role model he had. Please extend my sympathy to your family. You will be in my prayers.
