CHRISTINE NIZETIC Obituary

Christine Nizetic "Aunt Teeny." at 84 years, peacefully entered eternal life on October 1st, 2021 with her loving husband, Michael at her side. In addition to her devoted husband, Michael, she was the loving mother of her son, Michael; her daughter, Ruth; proud grandmother of Jenessia; great-grandmother of Amethyst; the cherished sister of Doris (and the late Marion) Janicke; and the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ragna (Flesvig) and Lawrence Dawson. Christine was born and raised a proud South Sider who loved Chicago, graduated from St. Francis Nursing School, Evanston, IL and enjoyed her career at DuPage Convalescent Center. She retired as the Assistant Director of Nursing. Christine and Mike made their home in Winfield for 50 years and all who entered felt welcome. Aunt Teeny embraced life finding happiness and joy in everything she did. They hosted countless family gatherings including Christmas Eve that concluded with a contest to see who's wadded up wrapping paper could be swatted the farthest when thrown up into the ceiling fan on the highest setting. She and Mike were married for 63 years. Together they loved to travel whether it was cross country to California to visit family or to explore the world, his homeland, Croatia, her homeland, Norway and beyond including Greece and Alaska. Teeny was a passionate gardener evident to anyone who relaxed in their back yard or enjoyed the exotic flowers from the Cantigny greenhouse, (Wheaton) where she volunteered.
