To the beloved Batey family, may the perfect peace of God be with you during this time of bereavement. I had a few brief occasions to meet Chester, through his baby sister Gloria, or GB as I call her. I will always remember his energy and zeal for life. I wish that I could be with you at this time GB, but I pray that the Lord will find a happier occasion for us to meet again soon. God Bless you all from Armond and I and the entire New Birth Apostolic Church family.

I will miss my cousin Chet “Little Chester” just like I miss my cousins Franklin E. McGowan, Aaron “Payne” Batey and my brother Marvin “Squeakie” Irving. Coincidently our very last words though shared with each man at different hours were, I love you man.
Love such a powerful word. GOD is Love. Norman “Cookie” Irving.
A prayer for ALL!
Lord, make me an instrument of thy PEACE!
Where there is hatred…let me sow LOVE.
Where there is injury…PARDON. Where there is discord…UNITY.
Where there is doubt…FAITH. Where there is error… TRUTH
Where there is despair…HOPE. Where there is sadness…JOY.
Where there is darkness…LIGHT.
Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek.
To be consoled…as to CONSOLE. To be understood…as to UNDERSTAND
To be loved…as to LOVE.
For
It is in giving…that we RECEIVE. It is in pardoning, that we are PARDONED.
It is in dying…that we are born to ETERNAL LIFE.

I didn't know Chester Batey, but I know his sister Alva. I remember Alva talking fondly of her older brother who was a Chicago Police Officer. Alva was very proud of her big brother. I know he will be missed. My prayers are with Alva and the Batey Family.
