Charlott was what I call a "dame," like the radiant, sophisticated women of the 1940s. She had a way of making the simplest gathering a party, the humblest morsel a feast. Bon voyage, Charlott.

Char Char, we miss you terribly. Emery and William ask about you every day. "Heaven," we tell them, "Char Char is in heaven," and Emery sort of nods and seems satisfied. But then she asks again the next day. Because she misses you. Because you were (still are) a huge piece of her little life. And William knocks on your door: "Cookie!" he shouts. We're happy to have known you, Char Char, and so so sad to have lost you.
