Charles White Obituary

Charles Franklin White, 75, of Hot Springs Village, returned to the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2003. He was born November 2, 1927 to Frank and Reece White. Charles was the founder of White Bag Company, Inc. in North Little Rock. Although he was unable to finish high school, Charles drove a truck during the day and repaired feed bags at night to build his multi-million dollar feed bag business. Charles even had to rebuild White Bag Co after fires destroyed the facilities twice. Charles White was happiest when working with his Brahman cattle at his Flying W Ranch in Sheridan. Zealous in everything, he served as Executive Vice President for the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association, the District Director for the American Brahman Association and he also served on the Board of Directors for the Arkansas State Fair. His dedication to Arkansas agriculture and youth programs earned him many honors, including 1982 Grant County Farm Family of the Year, Honorary Member of the Arkansas Junior Cattlemen’s Association of his outstanding support of AJCA and outstanding GCE for Pulaski County Special School District of Jacksonville. He was also an annual supporter of Arkansas 4-H and Future Farmers of America. He was successful in all his endeavors, including raising Brahman cattle. Charles White set a new standard for Brahman cattle in Arkansas with his champion bull, 488 Clavel. Charles White bred and raised the 1987 International Calf Champion Bull and the 1993 International Reserve Champion Heifer. His prize bull, Clavel, is on the American Brahman Breeders Registry of Renown. Charles White was dedicated to sharing his blessings with others, especially those who were struggling in life. As a deacon for the Hot Springs Village Church of Christ, Charles led and supported their benevolence ministry. Charles White was a visionary who had the faith and dedication to see his goals to fruition. He was a generous and dedicated Christian.

Charles White is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille White of Hot Springs Village; two sons, Charles White Jr. of Sheridan and Danny White of North Little Rock; three daughters, Kathy Roe of Harrison, Vickie White of Little Rock, and Teresa Gipson of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Charles White will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Mr. White’s life will be 10:00AM, Monday, April 14, at the Village Church of Christ, 403 Barcelona Road, Hot Springs Village, with Minister Jim Gardner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to either the Southern Christian Children’s Home or the Children’s Home at Paragould.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Mr. White's passing. I miss his calls asking me, "Brother Derrick, what do you need today?" I have worked very closely with Mr. White and his staff over the past several years and have learned that Mr. White was a good, honest, and fair man and he was a good christian. He will be truely missed by me personally. My deepest sympathy to Mr. White's family and his staff at White Bag Company.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Mr. White's passing. I have had packaging business interaction with Charlie over the last 20 years and always found him to be a gentleman. He treated business dealings with the same Christian values of honesty and integrity that he used in the other facets of his life. I regret that we have not been in touch over the last several years and I'd like to convey my deepests sympathies to his family but I share in their joy knowing that Charlie is in Heaven with our Lord today.

It was Brahman cattle that began our friendship with Charlie. He was always there when we needed him for help and advise. Quiet and soft spoken he could always get his point across at meetings of the American Brahman Breeders Association where we served together for many years.

Our sympathy and prayers go to Lucy and his grandson Chris.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Charles White. My mother worked for Mr. White at White Bag Company for many years and I have very fond memories of him and being around the company that he built. My mother, who passed away 2 years ago, always had the deepest respect for "Charlie", never calling him that when others around the company did. I'm sure the loss felt by his family is great, but Mr. White has found his truly greatest reward....Heaven. God Bless.

If I had two words to describe Mr. White, it would be Character and Compassion. Mr. White exemplified what it meant to be a christian. He worked hard every day to continue to keep a livlihood available for everyone who worked for him. He was gererous to a fault and while many who dealt with him on a business level saw him as the tough individual he was, I knew the compassionate man who would go out of his way to help someone in need. I'm proud to say that Mr. White was my mentor, my friend and my boss. The world is much poorer today for him not being here. I take comfort in the fact that one day, Mr. White and I will sit and talk together, under the watchfull eye of our saviour Jesus the Christ.

We regret to learn about the untimely demise of Mr. Charles White.

I was fortunate to meet him once & found him to be a man of great caliber. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to know him from close quarters, but I found his approach towards various things, professional and personal, quite commendable.

It was really fortunate to know such a man who was an inspiration for many.

Above all, he was a nice human being.

We at Pithampur family ,deeply mourn his death and would miss him.
